Music Ministry

Do you like to sing or play an instrument? JOIN US! My name is Karen E. Manning and I am privileged to be your Director of Music at St. Pius. There are many stewardship opportunities for you to share your musical time and talents. Although being able to read music is a plus, it is not required to join a choir. Remember, IT’S NEVER TOO LATE to learn or brush up on skills long forgotten! Come to a practice that’s listed in the bulletin or call me at Cell phone (309) 738-7458 or Office (309) 793-7373.

CALLING ALL CANTORS- Age- High School and above. Soloist leads the congregation in song. May only have to Cantor once a month. Mass- Cantors are used at 4:00 pm Saturday and 11:00 am Sunday. Call for an audition.

CHILDREN’S CHOIR- Age- Through 6^th grade. The child does not have to be able to read but it is helpful. If child is not comfortable being alone, parents may stay with them or sit close by. Practice-2 times a month on Thursdays from 3:15-4:00 pm. Mass-9:00 am Mass on the 1^st Sunday of every month.

YOUTH CHOIR- Age- 7^th grade through 12^th. Instrumentalists or vocalists are welcome. Practice- 2 times a month on Tuesdays from 6:00-6:30 pm. (If youth cannot make practice due to sports and school schedules, they can meet ½ hour before Mass to practice. Instrumentalists can call ahead for music.) Mass- 9:00 am Mass on the 3^rd Sunday of every month.

SCHOLA- Age-College-age to 100+! Instrumentalists or vocalists are welcome. Practice- 2 times a month on Tuesdays from 6:00-6:45 pm. Mass- 9:00 am Mass on 2^nd Sunday of every month.

ENSEMBLE- Age- College-age to 100+! Instrumentalists or vocalists are welcome. Practice- 2 times a month on Tuesdays from 6:45-7:30 pm. Mass- 9:00 am Mass on 4^th Sunday of every month.

ADULT CHOIR- Age- High School-age to 100+! Instrumentalists or Vocalists welcome for the organist accompanied Liturgy. Practice-Wednesday evenings from 6:30-7:30 pm. Mass-11:00 am Mass every week. Summers off!

FUNERAL CHOIR- Age- College-age to 100+! Vocalists welcome. Practice-(Meet at least ½ hour prior to beginning of funeral.) Funeral Masses- will be notified by phone chain about pending funerals.

SAVIOUR SOUL- Age- College-age to 100+! Instrumentalists welcome. Contemporary, original, and classic music played. Practice- Monday evenings from 7:00-@8:30 pm. Mass- 6:00 pm Mass every week. Call to ask about openings.

TRINITY CHOIR- Age- 7^th grade to 100+! Combo-choir that plays for special occasions 2 to 4 times a year (ecumenical service, special holiday/occasions).

ORGANISTS, PIANISTS AND OTHER INSTRUMENTALISTS-Age- 12 and above (depending on abilitity). Accompany a Cantor or Choir for liturgies. Willing to work with different levels of experience. Call for additional information.
