Twenty-Third Sunday of Ordinary Time |
THE VOICE AND MUSIC OF IRELAND Concert by Paddy Homan and The Creevey Band Paddy Homan’s
lyric tenor songs--sung in English and Gaelic--and rib-tickling humor
connect the past to the present when he sings his songs and tells his
stories of Ireland. He will perform at Farrell Hall, St. Pius X Church,
at 2901 24th St., Rock Island from 8:00 to 11:00 pm on Friday, July 11th. The admission fee will be $10.00. Paddy
will be joined by The Creevey Band: Danny Burns from County Donegal on
the guitar, Declan Fahy from County Galway on the button accordion and
tin whistle, and Patrick Quinn from Cleveland on the banjo, mandolin
and flute as they play traditional and contemporary Irish music. When the Lord Mayor of Cork, Ireland, Sean Martin, helped launch Homan’s CD, Far from the Land, he said, “Paddy sings with the emerging voice of Ireland.” In
a Chicago Tribune front page article Paddy said, ”Songs release the
stories within the person. Familiar Irish airs soothe the spirit and
give comfort.” A New York Times review said, “… the best traditional Irish music you’ll find outside Ireland with Paddy Homan and his band.” The
Landmark Gallery of Kennebunkport, Maine wrote, “The extra element he
adds to each lyric separates mere music from art. The man is an artist.” For additional information and video/sound clips see www.paddyhoman.com. |
