The Chamber Choir of St. John's University/College of St. Benedict

Friday, March 9 at 7:30 p.m.


The Chamber Choir of St. John's University/College of St. Benedict o Collegeville, Minnesota will be performing in concert at St. Pius X, Rock Island, as part of the Choir's 2017-2018 Concert Season. 

Under the direction of Dr. Axel Theimer, a native of Austria and a former member of the Vienna Boy's Choir, who has been on the music faculty at Saint John's University and College of Saint Benedict since 1969, the 40-member choir will perform in select cities in MINNESOTA (Watertown, Waconia, Mankato, Duluth, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Collegeville), WISCONSIN (Stevens Point), ILLINOIS (Wheaton/Chicago, Carbondale, Rock Island/Quad Cities) and IOWA (Dubuque).

Traditionally the program features a wide variety of sacred and secular music from around the world, ranging from polyphony of the Renaissance to masterworks of the 21st century.  This year's performance will, among others, include compositions by Morten Lauridsen, Max Reger, Stacey V. Gibbs, Eric Whitacre, Michael Barrett and Bob Chilcott.

Admission:  The concert if free, but free will donations are suggested and welcome to help defray travel costs.
